The New Black
Black is our recurring obsession and it doesn't look like this trend will go away this year. Of course, this year it is presented in a more natural way with a more rustic touch since we are directly inspired by nature.
Actually, we are inspired by everything around us – art exhibitions, where we live, fairs… – there is no right or wrong when it comes to inspiration.
I recently went to see Campanó's show at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, and my favorite part of the exhibition was a space filled with small pieces of black oil painting. I loved the range of expression limited to that grayscale palette.
Last weekend we went to Las Sirenas, in Cabo de Gata park. There, seeing the dark rocks coming out of the sea, I remembered pieces that I had recently seen at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris. It seems that once you become obsessed with one thing, it ends up appearing everywhere, wherever you go.
Coco Chanel used to say that "black eliminates everything around it". For us black is timeless, elegant as well as serious. He makes all the objects around him stand out. He will never go out of style.
Modern Boho
Our MODERN BOHO trend combines ethnic motifs, handcrafted elements and natural materials to create interiors with a more human touch. It is the antithesis of extreme minimalism.
From the Latin bohemius, the term bohemia has several meanings. The word is associated with the lifestyle that distances itself from social conventions and that privileges art and culture over the material things.
I'm a self-confessed "pjippy" and I'm very fond of this style. It is ideal for a house on the beach or in the country but you can also venture to take this relaxed style inside a city apartment and create a small sanctuary where you can disconnect from the stress of the city. To create your MODERN BOHO look look for colorful patterned or embroidered fabrics on cushions and throws, tassels and pom poms, carved wood, textured ceramics, crocheted wall decorations and baskets. This year the trend of bright colors continues to be seen a lot, and the interior design is definitely in love with terracotta, rusty tones, burnt oranges and plum tones. To take this trend to the limit, be brave and dare to layer these different tones in your space. From time to time, we all get the urge to add a pop of color! Burnt orange, rust, amber, copper, pumpkin… call it what you want, we love it and we know we're not the only ones in love with these shades. This year, interiors are ablaze with these beautiful, warm colors. In its most extreme form, this trend is definitely for the brave – but if you're not ready to take it to the limit, give your space a different touch with ceramics, cushions and/or fabrics that carry these colors.
